WEB: CSB School of Broadcasting

February 8th, 2008

The CSB School of Broadcasting project was an overhaul of their existing site. Since 1964, CSB School of Broadcasting has been the top choice for thousands of students b/c they want a great career in television, radio or Internet media, and know they’ll benefit from CSB School of Broadcasting’s Learn by Doing® approach.

The new site was designed with a new, sleek, modern feel with ease of navigation and emphasis on a better user experience.

A content replacement system was added to the main locations (cities) pages using Wordpress as the engine.

This site is going through several phases before it is completely overhauled. One of the next phases to take place is and interactive flash header on the homepage where users can interact with the people represented on the homepage.

(thanks to Craig Juneau and Jodi Augustine at PlattForm).

WEB: Magic at Hand

September 28th, 2007

Magic at Hand was built using Wordpress as its content management backend (PHP). This was a fairly quick build, once you understand Wordpress’s templates and functions. I’ve been customizing Wordpress templates for about two years now, or so. This site was a little bit tricky at first, trying to figure out how to make the light-beams appear and shine down over multiple elements.

Wordpress ended up being a good route to go with this, b/c Wordpress (or any CMS) gives content updating control to the client. With Magic at Hand, we were also looking for an easy way for the client to post videos from MySpace, YouTube, Google, etc. Thanks to the seemingly unending plugins for Wordpress, we were able to accomplish that for the client using Wordpress Video Plugin.

WEB: KEY Magazine Online

August 16th, 2007
BEFORE

AFTER

KEY Magazine Online was actually a site that used to be called KEY Colleges. This site came to PlattForm through the acquisition of another company in 2005, and quickly (too quickly) overhauled the existing site to the “before” view that you see here.

It was “too quickly” b/c though there was a lot of thought put into the site, it still wasn’t enough, the thought process didn’t go deep enough, and didn’t involve all the right people (you’ve never seen that). It basically was developed in an old-school way where each page was a physical page on the server and all maintenance was manual … and tedious!

In 2007, KEY Magazine got some much deserved attention, and we’ve rehauled the site to include a content management system based through Wordpress, RSS capabilities, dynamic content placement and a ton of “sticky” elements. We’ve added games and quizzes and polls, and an online magazine issue section to match its magazine distribution.

WEB: 701

July 26th, 2007

701 Live is a companion site to a local ministry of First Baptist Church in O’Fallon, Missouri called 701. This site is powered and uses Wordpress as a content management system, and is 100% integrated.

701 is a mid-week worship service designed to meet the needs of college students and young adults. The name “701″ was derived from 2 Corinthians 7:01 which says:
“Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”

WEB: Up and Going

July 1st, 2007

This project for Up & Going LLC was to give its existing site a make-over, organization and flow. I think we accomplished that here. Their old site utilized a cheesy, late-90’s Flash intro that took forever to run through, adhered to NO web standards, and was originally built using Yahoo! Site Builder (a.k.a. Geocities).

We’ve given this site a brand-spanking new, clean, professional look and feel; made it considerably more user-friendly; and, definitely more pleasing to the eye. We brought this site into the 21st century in web standards by utilizing (x)HTML, PHP and CSS to separate the code structure and markup from the style commands.

Up & Going’s mission is to become your one-stop Information Technology shop by ensuring:

  • Your systems are operating at maximum performance
  • Your network is free of bottlenecks, and
  • You are securely protected

WEB: USA Health Coach

June 27th, 2007

This site for USA Health Coach actually didn’t seem too difficult bringing to life. Thanks to Dustin Steller at Five Loaves Creative for the design work, and then we simply used Wordpress as our backend content management system. We created a new theme, and modified some of the Wordpress K2 theme files to make it do what we wanted (rotating header image, custom page stylings and layout, etc), and then found some existing plugins for some other features and modified them to do what met the client’s need, and away it goes.

The head coach, Karl Dennison Ph.D, has been involved in longevity research and health-related therapies for over 35 years. He provides coaching for relation reconciliation, physical, mental, and emotional challenges. His anti-aging strategies have led to medical alert regarding prescription drug interactions, and the citizens need to take charge of their health treatment.

He is currently available to review individual cases in conjunction with esteemed medical specialists as it relates to a strategic treatment plan.
